Soyuz TM-14 / MIR ’92 Flown Cover – Signed by Five Spacefarers – Two Special German Onboard Postmarks – Hand-Certified by Alexander Volkov – From the Jacques Bracke Collection
A highly desirable flown Soyuz TM-14 / Mir cover, bearing both special German MIR ’92 onboard postmarks and hand-signed by five astronauts and cosmonauts associated with this historic German-Russian mission: Alexander Viktorenko, Alexander Kaleri, Klaus-Dietrich Flade, Alexander Volkov, and Sergei Krikalev.
Soyuz TM-14 launched from Baikonur on March 17, 1992, carrying Viktorenko, Kaleri, and German astronaut Klaus-Dietrich Flade to the Mir space station. Flade’s flight was historically important as the first German mission aboard a Russian spacecraft following German reunification, undertaken as part of the MIR ’92 scientific program. He returned to Earth aboard Soyuz TM-13 with Mir veterans Alexander Volkov and Sergei Krikalev.
The cover is especially notable for carrying both special German onboard cancellations associated with MIR ’92, together with the five crew signatures. Further strengthening its provenance, Alexander Volkov personally inscribed and certified the cover as flown, providing an unusually direct contemporary confirmation of its spaceflight status.
Provenance: From the personal collection of renowned astrophilatelist Jacques Bracke, adding distinguished collector provenance to an already exceptional piece of German-Russian spaceflight postal history.
