Exceptional official RKK Energiya—commemorative cover, genuinely flown aboard the International Space Station during Expeditions 35 and 36 and officially postmarked in orbit.

The cover is hand-signed by the astronauts and cosmonauts who served across the two expeditions, bringing together nine individual spacefarers representing Russia, the United States, Canada, Italy and the European Space Agency.

The transition between the two expeditions took place in May 2013, when Chris Hadfield, Roman Romanenko and Tom Marshburn departed the station and Pavel Vinogradov assumed command of Expedition 36. Vinogradov, Misurkin and Cassidy served aboard both increments, linking the two complete crew groups represented on this cover.

Expedition 35 was especially notable for Chris Hadfield becoming the first Canadian to command the International Space Station. His highly visible mission brought life aboard the ISS to a worldwide audience and made him one of the most recognizable astronauts of his generation.

Expedition 36 continued the station’s extensive program of scientific research, maintenance and international cooperation. During the expedition, Luca Parmitano became the first Italian astronaut to conduct a spacewalk, working outside the station with Chris Cassidy.

Parmitano’s signature has gained additional historical importance following his selection in June 2026 as pilot of NASA’s Artemis III mission, connecting this ISS-era artifact with the next chapter of international human space exploration.
