Expedition 12 Flown “Red Heart” Sticker – Carried Aboard the ISS by Cosmonaut Valery Tokarev
A highly appealing flown Expedition 12 artifact, consisting of a metal “Red heart” sticker mounted to its original presentation card, approximately 5 x 4 inches, prepared by Dennis Bylina and carried aboard the International Space Station by Russian cosmonaut Valery Tokarev.
Expedition 12 launched aboard Soyuz TMA-7 on September 30, 2005, carrying Commander William McArthur and Flight Engineer Valery Tokarev to the ISS for a six-month mission. During their stay, McArthur and Tokarev conducted two spacewalks and participated in a historically important phase of continuous ISS occupation, including the fifth anniversary of uninterrupted human presence aboard the station.
This group of stickers was personally organized for flight and returned directly by Tokarev after the mission. The original bag containing the flown stickers was itself officially stamped, providing a strong and direct provenance trail.
The present example therefore represents far more than a commemorative item: it is a genuine artifact carried in orbit during Expedition 12, with direct mission provenance and an unbroken chain of custody from the cosmonaut who flew it.
