The flown Apollo 13 microfilm Bible is a small religious artifact that holds historical significance due to its connection to the Apollo 13 mission, which encountered a critical in-flight emergency.
The Apollo 13 mission famously encountered a life-threatening situation when an oxygen tank exploded, severely damaging the spacecraft and jeopardizing the lives of the crew. In the midst of the crisis, Lovell and his fellow astronauts, Fred Haise and Jack Swigert, worked closely with ground control to implement emergency procedures to ensure their safe return to Earth.
Today, the flown Apollo 13 microfilm Bible is considered a valuable historical artifact, reflecting the indomitable spirit of exploration and the human capacity to overcome adversity in the pursuit of knowledge and discovery.
Some of the bibles were then re-flown on Apollo 14 incl. to the surface of the moon - this one flew only on Apollo 13.
