Mercury MA-9 "Faith 7" flown heatshield fragment

Mercury Faith 7 was the last manned Mercury mission piloted by Gordon Cooper. Launched May 15th 1963 from Launch Complex 14. Astronaut Cooper became the first American to sleep in orbit. The spacecraft, completed 22 Earth orbits before splashing down in the Pacific Ocean.

Triangle swatch of heatshield material mounted on a 7x9'' rigid foam board certified on the backside. 

The source of this heatshield fragment was a larger block of heatshield encased into lucite as a presentation piece given to VIP's and NASA workers as recognition for their work in the space program.

This edition is limited to 50 presentations only.
