Flown ISS Cover – Dragon Crew-2 & Expedition 65 – Signed by the World’s First Space Film Crew

An extraordinary piece of modern space history: a flown commemorative cover carried aboard the International Space Station and postmarked in space, signed by the astronauts and cosmonauts of SpaceX Crew-2 and Expedition 65, including members of the world’s first movie production crew in space.

Among the signatures is Thomas Pesquet, who flew aboard Crew-2, alongside fellow astronauts Shane Kimbrough, Megan McArthur, and Akihiko Hoshide. The cover also carries the autographs of Expedition 65 crew members Mark Vande Hei, Oleg Novitsky, Pyotr Dubrov, and Anton Shkaplerov.

What makes this cover particularly historic is its connection to the first cinematic film shot in space, The Challenge. Actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko traveled to the ISS aboard Soyuz MS-18, becoming the first professional film crew to shoot a feature movie in orbit. After completing filming aboard the International Space Station, they returned to Earth together with commander Oleg Novitsky when Soyuz MS-18 undocked from the ISS on October 17, 2021.

Signatures on the cover include:

  • Oleg Novitsky

  • Pyotr Dubrov

  • Mark Vande Hei
