Discovery (OV-103) was NASA's third space-rated orbiter and was launched on Aug. 30, 1984, for its first mission, STS-41D. The last flight of the orbiter was mission STS-133 in 2011. Space Shuttle Discovery flew 39 times from 1984 - 2011 and spended altogether 365 days in space. Discovery now is the centerpiece of the James S. McDonnell Space Hangar at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
