This bolt held the capsule together that carried Yuri Gagarin into space on April 12, 1961.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSoviet Vostok 1 was the first spacecraft to carry a human, Yuri A. Gagarin, into earth orbit, occurring 25 days prior to the first U.S. suborbital flight. After one orbit, the spacecraft reentered earth's atmosphere and landed in Kazakhstan 1 hour and 48 minutes after launch.
