Gemini 9 - Tom Stafford and Gene Cernan
Heatshield material mounted on a 7x9'' rigid foam board certified on the backside.
Gemini 9 was the seventh crewed Gemini spaceflight with astronauts Tom Stafford and Gene Cernan onboard. Primary mission goals were: Demonstrate some rendezvous techniques, Docking with a target vehicle and an EVA to test the Astronaut Maneuvering Unit (AMU). There were also some scientific experiments done by the crew.
The source of this heatshield fragment was a larger block of heatshield encased into lucite as a presentation piece given to VIP's and NASA workers as recognition
for their work in the space program.
