Gemini 11 : Charles Conrad and Richard Gordon - september 1966

Heatshield material mounted on a 7x9'' rigid foam board certified on the backside.

In 1966, the Gemini 11 crew set an unbroken altitude record within low Earth orbit. Astronauts Pete Conrad and Dick Gordon reached an peak distance from Earth of 850 miles (1,350 km). The primary goals of the three-day Gemini 1 mission included docking with a target vehicle (first revolution) and was to perform two spacewalks.

The source of this heatshield fragment was a larger block of heatshield encased into lucite as a presentation piece given to VIP's and NASA workers as recognition

for their work in the space program.

This edition is limited to 30 presentations only.

Please note : Due to the nature of the source artifact each presentation differs slightly in color and shape.
